Mats Sundin Biography

WHAT A NIGHT!

Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin scored at 9:54 into the third period against the New York Islanders on Thursday, October 11th, 2007 to register his 390th goal and 917th point in a Maple Leaf uniform, both eclipsing club records he had shared with Darryl Sittler coming into the game.

Moments earlier an official made a correction to Toronto's third goal of the night (the right call) taking away an assist that would have put Sundin ahead of Sittler in club points.

Television replays clearly showed Sundin never touched the puck on the play that led to Tomas Kaberle's goal at 7:15 of the second period.

The Leafs beat the Islanders 8-1, following a 7-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes two nights earlier.
